Maybe, too much art is necessary. It can be the ripple of the outcry. I don't like too much of not so good art. It takes up space. It takes up free slots for potential necessary art. I think we should all collectively gather to burn and delete some of the atworks, mine included.

I oppose the idea that contemporary art is more of a visual philosophy than art. Art has always been philosophical. It has signified categories, and it is through distance that we can truly perceive the category. It was never merely a “copy of a copy.” While art may not establish new philosophical discoveries, it is only through art that we can affirm that philosophy is indeed “here,” that it is present. The visual, of course, is fallible—but so is the word. The ambiguity of philosophy arises not only from its ability to produce thesis, antithesis, and synthesis, and thus claim, in a naïve way, to be “true” or “false,” but also from the failure of language itself; for as long as thought exists within language, it can never be entirely free.

There was nothing punk or rebellious in it. When we got detained, we had to listen through the patronizing speech of the Politie officer about how we could make it happen legally. Only in the middle of his lecture about how we also had to change certain flags he realized himself: there was no legal option for us to keep it in the initial form. That was the moment when he stopped. Going rogue wasn’t for fashion, it was a necessary condition. I did bullshit them a lot tho.

Quite often the word "art" reveals to us as an epiphenomenon, an umbrella term for completely different goals, motivations, and cravings. But in such a moment one shouldn't succumb to pointless radicality. This word nevertheless allows us to do what we like to do. It's a shield that we can hide behind in order to at least try to sustain our weird perversions within the established schemology.

Performance "Armoured By" for TONEELHUIS by Dries van Elke:
A costume and performance creation that experiments with the relationships of objects to the body and the body's relationship to its environment. Spectators and costume designer switch sides to reveal things about each other. An intimate experiment that aims to desecrate creativity and thus reframe our perception of creative work.
